Architectural Draftsman
Position Title: Architectural Draftsman
Manager: CEO
Result Statement: The Architectural Draftsman  is a key member of the design team; delivering meticulously detailed and accurate architectural drawings, optimizing construction processes, reducing errors and enhancing project efficiency.  
Position Specific:
- Gather information for the project: complete the checklists, take photos, take field measurements, research codes and restrictions. 
- Work with the designer to develop a base set of drawings for the existing conditions and the proposed design. 
- Create drawings that are appropriate for each stage of design development 
- Verify the drawings for accuracy, completeness and compliance with CAD standards 
- Develop drawings that are “buildable” (building code compliant and structurally feasible). 
- Incorporate notes, revisions or additional drawings as needed by estimating department, production or city for permit submittal. 
- Coordinate with production/estimating/specifying department to assure consistency between drawings and specifications. 
- Run prints, scans and copies (or send out for prints) on an as-needed basis. 
- Respond in a timely manner to Production’s and Designer’s request for drawings with the understanding that projects in Production take priority over projects in Design. 
- Assist designer creating architectural details to describe their designs 
- Coordinate out-sourced CAD and engineering services (prepare initial information package, prepare or revise CAD details, review incoming CAD, check CAD against red-marked drawings). 
- Support other departments, as needed 
- Work with design consultants in communicating all documents and signing of necessary permit applications & related documents for permit submittal. See the projects through permit acquisition. Notify accounting team of billing and invoicing needs for all planning and permitting needs 
- Proficiency in Chief Architect Software

Strategic Work:
- Manage and coordinate permit submittals; communicate status during weekly Design Pipeline meetings 
- Ensure that all architectural drawings are detailed, accurate, and in compliance with building codes and regulations. 
- Stay updated with the latest drafting and design software to improve efficiency and accuracy. 
- Engage in value engineering to find cost-effective alternatives without compromising structural integrity or design aesthetics 
- Regularly review construction progress against drawings and address any discrepancies promptly. 
- Stay well-versed in building codes and regulations to ensure that all drawings comply with local, state, and national standards 
- Stay informed about industry trends, new construction materials, and technologies

- All work will be performed according to company policies and standards, in the spirit of the company’s vision. 
- All work will be orchestrated and quantified when appropriate. 
- Telephone calls, both internal and external, will be returned within two hours whenever possible, and within one business day at the latest. 
- All proprietary company information will be held as strictly confidential outside the company. 
- Immediate manager will be notified of any issues that cannot be resolved, or deadlines that cannot be met, within a reasonable time frame, and before the deadline has arrived.
